The Municipality of Tivat hosted the launch of an awareness-raising campaign on the benefits of composting green waste on 25 April 2014. The campaign will be conducted over the course of 2014 by the Eco-centre Dolphin NGONGO
non-governmental organization
in partnership with the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.

The campaign will be implemented in six coastal municipalities: Herceg Novi, Tivat, Kotor, Budva, Bar and Ulcinj and will consist of  three panel discussions, educational workshops in up to 20 primary and high schools, workshop for representatives of public utility companies on best practices in composting as well as the distribution of composters to public institutions.

“Composting is the most eco-friendly way in disposing of green waste and is a norm in the most developed countries in Europe and the United States,” said Alyn Roberts, Senior Political Officer at the OSCE Mission to Montenegro. He added that the coastal municipalities will offer a good example for other municipalities to follow with the implementation of good practices and help citizens see the benefits of composting.

During the launch event, Eco-centre Dolphin also delivered a presentation and provided instructions to local citizens on how to compost green waste.
