Montenegro’s Department for Gender Equality of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights celebrated its tenth anniversary at an event in Podgorica on 26 March 2013.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Lubomir Kopaj, said that the representation of women in decision-making roles was still far from what it should be. Gender equality was not only “a struggle for better representation of women, but a balanced representation of both genders”. He added that he hoped one day there would be more men in professions perceived as typically female.

The OSCE Mission will continue working with Montenegrin and international partners to help build on the efforts of the past ten years to reach higher standards of gender equality.
